WISE: Women Inspired, Supported and Empowered
WISEPlace is a resource center for Women experiencing homelessness, to help them transition their lives and become self-sufficient, contributing members of the community. Their space was in need of transformation as well – they needed a space to welcome the community, making the women they serve feel safe and comfortable.
Six teams of A&D and GC firms competed by submitting design plans to revamp the WISEPlace community hall. The winning team, Retail Design Collaborative and CDG Builders, worked pro bono with donated materials from an assortment of local retailers and suppliers.
The transformation of the space is nothing short of amazing. WISEPlace now has a space worthy of their mission, with the added benefit of a sustainable source of income from renting out the space for meetings and events.
In addition to the transformation of the WISEPlace, our community raised over $8,210 for the emergency shelter, and Herman Miller Cares Foundation added another $25,000 to support this need. Herman Miller and Pivot Interiors would like to thank the charitable donations of time, talent, and materials from our wonderful industry contributors!
