Fireside Chat With Rolf Hay
Pivot invited Rolf Hay, founder of HAY, for a fun and inspiring fireside chat in our Santa Clara showroom!
We were honored to have the incredibly genuine and talented Rolf Hay join us for an evening of creative discussion around his namesake brand and all things design.
This event was also an exciting kick-off to our holiday pop-up show, featuring stunning pieces from Herman Miller's Elements collection to create a festive and cozy setting for our fireside chat. Rolf and our moderator, Pivot Senior A+D Director, Edward Woodill sat comfortably in a HAY vignette featuring About a Lounge Chairs, Bella Coffee Table, Don't Leave Me (DLM) Table, and the newly launched Peas Area Rug. Our guests had the opportunity to sit in a variety of HAY About a Chairs, showcasing the breadth of this line.
Rolf's calm demeanor and charming personality drew the audience in as he discussed his vision behind HAY and it's impressive growth in the last few years. We enjoyed hearing personal stories about Rolf's wife, Mette, co-founder of HAY, and how the two partner together to bring their brand to life. Many people have compared Rolf and Mette to the infamous Ray and Charles Eames, but Rolf quickly ended that assumption -- humbly stating that no one could ever compare to them. He did use the opportunity to point out that if there was something one might compare, it would be the incredible design eye and creative ability of both Ray and his own wife, Mette.
Our fireside chat concluded with a handful of thoughtful and interesting questions from the audience of architects and designers. We truly enjoyed the evening with Rolf and want to sincerely thank him for making our event fun, memorable, and for sharing his genuine love for design with us. I would also like to thank R.J.
